Can You Develop Mind Consciousness?

Can You Develop Mind Consciousness?

Is there incessant chatter in your head?

Do you feel like the mind will just not settle down, endlessly rolling from thought to thought, but none of the thinking is useful?

Becoming conscious of your mind can help you access its power. Becoming conscious of the mind is one of the great abilities of the human brain.

Being aware of the thinking process, rather than reacting instinctively, is a remarkable skill.

It has made our culture possible, but it also has its limits. The conscious mind is like a video camera that records everything.

Even things that you don’t really notice, your consciousness is taking it all in, every detail. It receives this information and determines whether it is useful for you.

Things like finding food, protecting yourself from danger and seeking shelter are all things that the conscious mind helps you do.

The Power of the Subconscious Mind

Based on what is happening in the physical world, it only acts upon necessary information. There is a special storage system for all of this information; it’s called the subconscious mind.

This infinite depository can hold all of your experiences - every sight, sound and emotion - and it can recall them in an instant.

The subconscious mind isn’t limited by time and space. Rather than being ruled by the laws of physical matter, it is not subject to the strict rules and objective reality of the conscious mind.

Instead, it’s influenced by our beliefs. This is also where the stored information settles, mingles and bubbles up to the surface.

Creativity and inspiration arise from this deep part of our psyche, and often the most ingenious ideas are born here.

However, if you are always in your conscious mind, the subconscious mind will be unavailable to you, as we cannot hear it above all of those noisy thoughts of reality.

We must put the logical thoughts to rest before you can hear the subconscious.

When this creative information bubbles up to the surface, the conscious mind needs to manifest it in the physical world, but often our minds are way too busy to be effective.

Harnessing the power of both the conscious and subconscious mind is possible, but it takes both patience and practice. The benefits of training your mind to be aware of itself can have a dramatic effect on your life.

With just a few techniques, you will soon realise how you only limit yourself by your beliefs. Believe that something is possible, and the subconscious mind will show you how to do it.

Think you can’t, and you won’t. Simple enough.

Settle Your Thoughts

The first key to notice your mind’s state is to quiet all the logical and worrisome thoughts so that the brilliance of the subconscious can surface.

Creative people usually say that inspiration comes when they are most relaxed. When you need some insight or an unusual solution to a problem, it can help to do a breathing exercise or go for a walk.

Engaging in an activity that doesn’t require a lot of thinking, such as doing the dishes or lounging in a tub, often offers amazing insights.

It is important to take a break from your work from time to time to receive information from your subconscious. Mundane tasks allow for “aha” moments and allow you to have more balance in your day.

Try not to force your thoughts to receive inspiration. It often comes when you least expect it, so schedule some idle time into your workday to let the subconscious mind do its work.

Question Your Mind

One of the first steps in becoming conscious of your mind is asking yourself, “Who is thinking these thoughts?”

Go beyond the everyday labels, such as lawyer, mother, artist, etc. and see if you can notice where these thoughts originate.

Take a few minutes to meditate on this concept. When thoughts arise, just label it as “thinking” and let the thought go.

Keep questioning every label that comes up about who you are. Go deeper and see what is there.

When you can notice your thinking, it no longer rules you, but you can use it to harness the power of the infinite subconscious.

Allowing for the inner messages of your mind to speak to you loud and clear is the path to true consciousness.

Learning to use your consciousness to question your beliefs about the world will open up unlimited possibilities. You can change what isn’t working in your life and manifest your desires.

All you have to do is to be aware.

Feel Your Body

Another great technique for increasing consciousness is to work with the physical body. It is our vehicle for presence and can be a useful tool for noticing our experience.

Tuning into your body will also put the conscious mind to rest. Look down at your hands.

Notice every line, the shape of your nails, the smoothness of the skin, and take in every detail. Feel the life that is pulsing inside your hands.

See if you can stay with this aliveness for several minutes.

These techniques help to quiet the conscious mind and let the subconscious mind speak to you. They are easy to do and don’t cost a dime.

You can do them anywhere and will see results immediately. Start harnessing the power of the mind and improve your life starting today.

My next article will dive deeper into the subconscious and show you ways to unlock your hidden creativity. Stay tuned.

Budget Like a Rich Person

Budget Like a Rich Person

Are you spending money like a wealthy person?

If not, you might think: “I can’t spend money like a wealthy person, I don’t have enough.”

If so, this statement might reveal a clue why you’re not wealthy yet.

Most of the time, we think about being wealthy and have a long list of things that we want to buy when (or if) we become wealthy.

We view wealth as an opportunity to buy anything that we want: a new car, a nice house, a wardrobe that costs the same as most people’s mortgages, so on and so on ...

However, this isn’t how wealthy people spend money—this is how broke people spend money.

If you ever want to become wealthy, you must start by learning how to spend the money that you already have.

The Mindset of the Rich

Rich people don’t spend money, they invest it.

They purchase things that add value to their lives and then repeat that pattern until they build a substantial amount of wealth.

They invest in things that will provide them with additional income streams; they invest in things which will add economic value to their lives and most of all; they invest in their own education.

So they never worry about whether they can afford things, because they’re more focused on how much something will make for them.

That’s how they got wealthy, and that’s how they stay that way.

They don’t overspend and run up excessive debt buying extravagant things.

Most of them pay cash for their cars and drive something secondhand or economical.

Those people who you see driving around in expensive, gas-guzzling cars are usually living paycheck to paycheck.

Their “wealth” is just a show of extravagant things that are draining money out of their bank account.

Where’s all that money going?

It’s going to wealthy people.

It’s going to the people who have money because they love to invest and to make money more than they love to spend it.

That’s the difference in how wealthy people spend money and how broke people spend money.

Here’s what you can do about it:

Stop trying to live like a rich person!

The first step to getting rich is to stop trying to live like a rich person.

Give up all the desires to buy a fancy car and a huge, expensive house. Those desires are being exploited by people who love to sell those things.

These people get you to take out loans and mortgages to buy the things that you want.

Then you pay them interest and they reinvest that money by loaning it to someone else who’s trying to live like a rich person.

If you want to get rich, start focusing on the things which rich people use to get to where they are: investing money, staying out of debt, having money work for them and, most of all, selling and promoting.

If this last one made you feel sick, think about this: most people hate to sell, but they love to buy—and most people are broke.

Meanwhile, few people love to sell, and only a few people are wealthy.

Is this a coincidence?

Don’t think so. Think about it, if you’re buying and someone else is selling, they’re the ones making the money.

These are the super-rich people you see and wonder if they’re just lucky or if they know something that everyone else doesn’t.

It’s not what they know, it’s what they do: they love to sell, and they buy to add value.

Broke people hate to sell, they hate salespeople, and the very thought of selling turns their stomach ... but they love to buy.

You just learned one of the most important secrets about becoming wealthy.

7 Ways to Find Peace in a Chaotic World

7 Ways to Find Peace in a Chaotic World
Many people find that their lives are so chock-full of activity and madness that they don’t have one spare moment to themselves.

We often fill our days with endless chatter, noise and activity, and we find that we don’t leave ourselves any time to turn off and tune out.

Living in a chaotic world can be very stressful, so finding peace is vital if we want to manage our stress levels.

Stress, who needs it?

There are many ways to find peace in a chaotic world, and it doesn’t require a huge time commitment.

Everyone deserves a break throughout their day, even if it is only a five-minute break to take a walk or stretch your legs.

Taking a break in your day can ease away stress and tension.

Stress can have a myriad of negative health effects, ranging from physical symptoms, such as upset stomach, chest pain or headaches, to emotional distress.

Relaxing helps by melting away the mental and emotional layers, which can cause stress and anxiety.

Stress and anxiety can build up in the body, eventually leading to disease. We need to watch out!

Five-minute Mini Meditation

As stress is counterproductive, and we all have a maximum level at which we can endure, meditation can help you cope better with life.

It can help you get rid of the tensions of the day, and it does a much better job than drugs or alcohol ever could!

I suggest taking five minutes to clear your mind and leave the outside world behind.

Meditation is the ultimate mind-body experience, and it can even help you heal and restore your health.

Meditation allows you to tap into your own healing power and to shed painful emotional burdens and self-defeating thoughts .

Close your eyes and take yourself somewhere in your mind.

You might visit the beach, imagine you are sitting by a beautiful waterfall or even imagine you are climbing a mountain.

Now, breathe...

Breathing is one of the most powerful resources you can tap into.

Breathing is the basis of all life. Every living thing on the planet breathes. Mentally, breathing helps the mind to relax.

When your mind relaxes and is serene, you can think much more clearly.

Spiritually learning how to breathe is a meditation. Meditation puts you on a path to your spirituality.

It’s not rocket science, but to practise deep breathing close your eyes and inhale deeply, filling your diaphragm with fresh, oxygenated air.

Repeat two-three times.

7 Ways to Find Peace in a Chaotic World

Now that you are nice and relaxed here are 7 tips to keep you going :)

1) Stop Multitasking

Multitasking adds to the chaos factor. It’s complete bullshit that multitasking makes you more efficient.

Take one thing at a time and immerse yourself in your task.

When you take time to focus on the present moment, you use your energy in a more efficient way.

2) Sit in the Sun for 10 Minutes

When you sit in the sun, your body naturally produces vitamin D.

Vitamin D can help you feel more positive and more upbeat. You don’t even need to be in direct sunlight being outdoors will help.

Vitamin D isn’t in many foods, so taking time to allow your body to produce it can improve your peace of mind.

Increasing your levels of vitamin D also helps ward off depression, Type I diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancer and heart disease.

What an amazing vitamin it is!

3) Think more Positively

Optimists have a much better time getting through the trials and tribulations of life – and live longer in better health!

The next time you grumble, stop for a moment and find the positive enjoy the situation.

4) Take Time for Laughter

Laughter releases powerful chemicals in your body called endorphins. Endorphins are nature’s feel-good chemical.

Endorphins can help you literally feel better - who needs drugs?

5) Take a Walk

When you are feeling stressed, one of the best things you can do is to get out there and take a walk.

It’s one of my favourite pastimes – I find it does wonders for me.

Stretching your legs and moving your body can ease away stress and anxiety.

Plus, it clears your mind and helps you think with more clarity.

6) Listen to Music

Listening to music can be very healing and restorative. Music can help you ward off stress and anxiety.

Just play something mellow and allow your mind to drift for maximum benefit.

7) Take a Hot Shower or Bath

Soaking in a hot tub or shower can really melt away the stress away. Relaxing in hot water can help you escape a chaotic world.

When you are soaking, just imagine the water is washing away stress and tension. Watch your worries go down the drain…

Leave The Chaos Behind

There are many ways to escape a chaotic world.

Taking a few moments out of every day to take a short walk or to stop and smell the roses can go a long way to promoting good mental health.

It is not always necessary to get everything crossed off your to do list.

Taking time for yourself should be your top priority and make sure you breathe!

Thinking Yourself Rich - Does It Work?

Thinking Yourself Rich - Does It Work?

Can you think yourself rich? If so, how do you go about it?

To answer this question, you must first determine what your subconscious thoughts are regarding money.

Your thoughts create your reality. Money itself has no power; it is neither good nor bad.

Your thoughts and ideals about money determine your beliefs about money.

If you grew up struggling with money and thinking money was the root of all evil, then you probably still think that at some level.

Many of us get so caught up in the stress and strife of life that we end up repelling money because we spend much of our time focusing on all of our problems.

The only way to draw something to you is to focus on that which you want to draw to you, but that’s easier said that done with prosperity and abundance!

It Does Grow On Trees

Think about those things you associate with money or those things you have heard about money. Money is scarce or money doesn’t grow on trees.

You probably think you never have enough money, and if you continue to think like this. Your thoughts will continue to become your reality.

These kinds of thoughts get stuck in your mind because whatever it is you are telling yourself day in and day out is what you believe.

Just like the analogy of musical chairs, that is what most of us believe. There is not enough for everyone, and eventually someone will miss out.

This way of thinking becomes a way of life after a while. What are the messages you are telling yourself from the minute you get up to the minute you go to bed?

You might tell yourself that you don’t have enough time or that you don’t have enough money. This kind of thinking colours everything because it is what you are telling yourself all day long.

What You Create Inside You See Outside

Your world is a creation of your thoughts, so if you want to draw money to you, you must begin by changing your thoughts. How can you do this you might ask?

You can start by being thankful for the money you do have. You can feel grateful that you’re not living on the street.

You can look around and see that you are probably much better off than many people you know. Instead of paying bills and being anxious or uptight, you can pay bills and feel grateful that you had the money to pay the bill.

You must change the way you think and feel about money at the very core of your being. To think yourself rich, you must feel rich.

Feel you have enough and that everything will be fine. Change the messages you are telling your subconscious mind by changing your self-talk.

The next time you grumble or complaining about your lack of money, stop yourself in your tracks. Change the message and tell yourself that you have enough and that you are getting wealthier every day.

When you change that self-talk, you believe in yourself more. You can also use affirmations and visualisations because they are powerful.

You could spend a few minutes every day repeating affirmations like, “My resources are abundant” or “Money is coming to me now” or even “I have all the money I need.”

Switch to a Positive “Money Mindset”

The more you create positive statements and the more you feel the feelings associated with these statements, the more you will draw money to you.

You can also use the power of your imagination by closing your eyes and seeing yourself enjoying wealth. I know this seems silly, but it works!

You can also try a little self-hypnosis by staring at something above your field of vision so you gently strain your eyes.

By focusing and straining your eyes and counting backwards from 10, you can elicit a light state of self-hypnosis.

Once you are in this light state, you can then repeat your affirmations and do some visualisations, such as seeing yourself happily paying bills or even driving a new car.

The most important part is to feel the feelings and emotions that you equate with being wealthy.

Because the subconscious mind doesn’t differentiate between reality and imagination, it believes whatever you “program” into it. It is really as simple as that.

What you are trying to do is raise your financial set point. We all have a certain number that we believe we cannot move beyond.

By visualising and repeating affirmations, you will raise your financial set point, little by little.

You can also use vision boards, which we talked about before and find images and pictures that you associate with wealth and abundance.

These are just a few of the very simple ways that you can think yourself rich. It may sound silly, but the fact of the matter is that these techniques work.

They work quite well. So the next time you complain about money or the lack of it, remember that your thoughts become reality.

That’s it for now. Just remember, you CAN think yourself rich!

10 Relationship Headaches and How to Fix Them

10 Relationship Headaches and How to Fix Them

Do you have what you believe would be a perfect relationship if it weren’t for a few nagging little problems?

If so, let’s see if these 10 solutions to common relationship headaches are what you need to turn things around.

1. Low Trust

Low trust is the most frustrating thing to deal with in a relationship because it brings everything else into question.

Fortunately, low trust is also easy to fix if you take on a proactive mindset by clarifying expectations up front and keeping open lines of honest communication.

2. Neediness

Few things are more frustrating than the feeling that your partner is suffocating you with neediness.

If this is the case, step back and ask yourself where you need to draw physical and emotional boundaries.

You might even realise that not drawing boundaries is opening the door for your partner to suffocate you.

3. Boundary Issues

No matter how close your relationship is, it’s important that you have a clear distinction of where your personal boundaries are.

If your partner isn’t respecting your individual right to make choices, to have opinions and to have your own personal space, the best thing to do is make those things clear and stand your ground.

If you do this, your partner will learn to respect your boundaries.

4. Social Circle Clashes

Does your partner have their own social circle that you can’t stand? If so, it’s important that you don’t try to remove your partner’s friends from his or her life.

Instead, clarify your feelings towards the friends whom you don’t like and give your partner some space to spend time alone with those people.

Your partner can then decide which relationship is more important.

5. Money Problems

Money problems are probably the biggest cause of relationship headaches and are the cause for most divorces in North America.

However, you can solve most of your money problems by keeping your finances separate and splitting things 50/50.

This will help each person maintain a personal sense of responsibility and independence.

6. Lack of Understanding

Lack of understanding is at the root of most relationship problems and can lead to a lack of trust, boundary issues and all kinds of other problems.

The best way to cultivate understanding is to obey relationship expert Dr Steven Covey’s advice: “Seek first to understand, and then to be understood.” If you do this, your partner will most likely reciprocate.

7. Boredom

This might sound funny, but boredom often causes infidelity and apathy in a relationship.

You can cure boredom easily by making a commitment to do things together that you’ve both not done before and be spontaneous.

A great way to overcome boredom is to commit to a weekly date night and a monthly activity where you try something new together.

8. Apathy

Indifference is the kiss of death in any relationship, but it usually comes about because of emotional exhaustion and frustration in trying to “make things work.”

If apathy has already become a problem in your relationship, the best place to start is by shaking things up and adding some excitement.

Once you do this, you need to commit immediately to clarifying expectations, drawing boundaries, and cultivating an understanding with your partner.

9. Sexual Dissatisfaction

This is a huge deal for men and usually a much bigger deal for women than they allow themselves to express openly.

It’s important that you never take your sex life for granted and never assume that it completely satisfies your partner.

Having a healthy sex life requires consistent communication and creativity.

10. Coldness

If your partner is being cold to you, it's natural to become defensive and on guard with your feelings.

However, the cause of coldness is often a feeling of being misunderstood. This is a time to practise the art of seeking first to understand, and then to be understood (good old Dr Covey… ).

The more understood your partner feels, the more he or she will open up and warm up to you again.

Now you have the tools to deal with 10 of the most potentially difficult problems in relationships.

5 Secrets of Blissful Relationships

5 Secrets of Blissful Relationships

Have you ever seen a couple who had been together for 30 or 40 years and wondered what their secret was?

You’re probably aware that a blissful relationship is something difficult to come by these days.

However, once you learn these five secrets of blissful relationships and put them into practice, you’ll amaze yourself at just how easy it can be to have a great relationship.

1. Clear Expectations

Clear expectations are the foundation of trust, compassion and understanding. You hear a lot of talk about trust these days, but finding a person you can trust to be in a close relationship with you is difficult.

Contrary to common belief, dishonesty is less often the cause of mistrust than ambiguous and unclear expectations.

If you and your partner are unclear about what the expectations of the relationship are (for both sides), you’re left with only assumptions ... and assumptions almost always lead to disappointments. We perceive them as violations of trust.

2. Great Sex

Maybe people don’t talk about this one much but the human body is biologically wired for sexual bliss ... and that will not change.

While great sex isn’t a principle on which you can build an entire relationship, it adds a delightful dimension that few couples ever get to find.

What’s the secret to having a great sex life? Foremost is open and honest communication about what each person wants.

Biologically, sex works out pretty well and without a lot of extra effort because we’re wired that way. But making it great requires clear communication and reciprocity. And speaking of reciprocity ...

3. Reciprocity

There is no such thing as something for nothing, and this will apply to pretty much every area of life: your financial life, your relationships, your health, your career and your emotional wellbeing.

If one partner is giving too much, and the other is taking too much, the relationship is always on its way downhill.

However, if you focus on meeting your partner’s needs according to his or her expectations (instead of your own), your partner will be much more likely to reciprocate.

Again, this is one reason clear expectations are so important.

Many people try to practise reciprocity, but instead of giving their partner what they need, they give based on what they ASSUME they need.

Reciprocity requires clear expectations to make a relationship blissful.

4. Playfulness

Life is too short to be in a relationship where you can’t have fun and be a little playful with your partner.

One of the greatest joys in adult experience is to act a little childlike, and you need someone in your life who will share this experience with you.

Of course, there are many different types of senses of humour.

It’s important to find someone who thinks how you do and who finds humour in the same things.

5. Perpetual Courtship

Too many couples start off on a great note by working hard to please each other during the courting stage of the relationship, only to slack off once the “new” wears off.

Make a commitment to court your partner every day of your relationship, even if you’ve been together for decades.

This will inspire reciprocity and, together with the above four principles, will help you build a blissful relationship.

Is negativity hindering your relationship?

Do you sometimes treat your spouse in a way that you know isn’t right? Or do you ever think “No one will ever marry me or want to be with me”?

You could be a victim of negative thoughts, and they are not all inside your head!

Negative thoughts are ALL AROUND US: in the media, at the workplace and sometimes in our home.

You can use this revolutionary software that blocks out negativity and replaces bad thoughts with positive affirmations that help you achieve your goals and live a happy life.

Are Vision Boards the Key to Unlimited Success?

Are Vision Boards the Key to Unlimited Success?

Vision boards are a visual representation of all of your hopes and dreams.

You can make a vision board by cutting out photos or pictures of things you would like to attract into your life.

A vision board is basically a collage that acts as a reminder of the kind of life you would like to be living.

Vision boards are a simple concept that can work to help you make your dreams a reality.

Vision boards are a treasure map or goal-setting device that can help you supercharge your powers of manifestation.

Made popular during the famous movie called “The Secret,” but the truth of it is that vision boards have been around for years.

Let Your Emotions Flow

They base the concept of a vision board on your emotions and the idea that when you see images of the kind of life you would like to lead, that this helps you manifest those images into your life.

We base the vision board on the law of attraction and the concept you draw into your life those things you focus upon.

By creating a vision board, you are creating the life you want to be leading, and by focusing on that vision board, you can draw those things into your life.

Your brain is a receiver of images, and by creating a vision board, you give your brain something to focus on.

Your subconscious mind works much better with pictures and images, so creating a vision board is a great way to help you pave your way to success.

The goal of the vision board is to evoke an emotional response, so you feel the feelings that you would feel as if you had already achieved your goal.

The feeling or emotional response may just be the key to unlimited success because the more you evoke the feelings and emotions, the faster you will you get to your intended goal.

What’s Important to You?

The mere sight of your vision board should evoke a passionate response from you, and you should stage your vision board somewhere where you will see it often.

By reflecting on it and focusing on it throughout the day, you will bathe your subconscious mind in the feelings and emotions that you would feel as if you had already achieved your goal.

You don’t want to set your vision board up somewhere where people can make fun of you, so if you are self-conscious about this work, then put your vision board somewhere private.

To create your vision board, you will need some poster board or foam board. You can cut pictures out of magazines or print them off of the computer or Internet.

Real estate magazines and car brochures work well too. Arrange your pictures like a collage and tape them or glue them to the board.

It’s important to make sure that the pictures you use evoke an emotional response because that is the key to making vision boards work for you.

You should get excited when you look at your board because this is the life you will step into. The more you believe you will achieve your hopes and dreams, the faster you will get there.

The Power of the Visual

When creating your vision board, ask yourself what kind of pictures best represent the life you want to be living.

You can also think about what kind of car you want to be driving or what kind of house you want to live in. Perhaps your dream is to travel; if so, use pictures of places that you would like to travel to.

It’s important to always keep your vision board fresh as well because you may change what it is you want. You could even use a whiteboard and magnets if you want to create a board that is dynamic and changeable.

Vision boards can be an important tool, and they just might be the key to your ultimate success. The point of a vision board is to create a visual snapshot of the kind of life you would like to be living so you can reflect upon that image as much as possible.

The most important part of a vision board is that feeling of passion you get when you look at it. You should feel an emotional tug at your heart when you look at your pictures.

You should see yourself in that room, sitting on the sofa having a cup of tea or coffee. You should be able to picture yourself living that life in every way.

You should believe in the heart of your heart that you will arrive at your destination no matter what. When you commit 100 percent to your goal, there is no telling how quickly you might arrive at your destination.

The vision board is your personal treasure map, so make it a good one because dreams really do come true.

Reboot, Refresh and Recharge Your Life

Reboot, Refresh and Recharge Your Life
Within every career and every pursuit you may have, including getting in shape, we must endure a roller coaster ride before we can get to the goal line.

There’s the exhilaration as we go up, followed by fear as we go back down. We take two steps forward, sometimes one step back.

And as we ride it out, we learn from the experience and understand how to ride the next big wave better.

But what happens when the action we need to take for the healthiest life possible doesn’t always go as planned?

How do we re-teach ourselves to eat smarter, exercise harder, and set our bodies and minds up for the best ride we might go on?

Sometimes in life, it’s necessary to rewind, recharge and re-do the damage done.

Whether your biggest challenge is to stop comfort eating, or resist buying into the latest fad diet as the solution to your weight loss, or even making your health the first and most important priority in your life, anything is possible.

What’s Stopping You?

What's preventing you from attaining your goals right now in this moment?

Do you feel you’ve done too much damage to yourself, and there’s no hope for reversing that waste you’ve filled your body with over the last five years - the alcohol, tobacco, sugar and processed foods?

As you would do to your DVD player when it skips during your favourite movie, or with a computer whose screen has froze up - unplug, take a deep breath and try again.

Don’t throw that computer in the trash, thinking if it doesn’t work in this very minute, it will never work.

Refresh your screen, or hit rewind on that DVD player. Take that approach and reset your priorities in the same way.

The Power Is in Your Hands

Focus on your goals and write them down. Keep a list handy of every goal, big or small that you have.

Maybe you want to limit yourself to one dessert a week.

Perhaps you want to eat three fruits and vegetables a day, or that you want to go to the gym three days a week (no matter how little time you think you have for it).

Write each goal down, and on a separate piece of paper, write one solution for each goal: a tool to help you accomplish it.

A solution for going to the gym (despite your hectic schedule) is wake up one hour earlier three mornings a week so you can hit the gym before you head to work.

When you put stock in yourself and look at each day as a new opportunity to be well, healthy and motivated to treat yourself better, you’ll be more likely to keep up your improved habits long-term.

The Secret Healthy People Know

If you want to eat healthier, but aren’t exactly sure how to get there, act as if you’re already there.

If one of your biggest weaknesses is buying crackers, chips and the occasional candy bar, go into the store with a different mindset.

While doing your weekly grocery shopping, act as if you already have a thin, healthy body.

Ever notice the layout of a supermarket?

Meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables are stored along the edge and back of the store.

Unhealthy food, such as processed crackers, chips, pasta, juice and ice cream is shelved in the middle - and with reason.

It takes up most of the store’s space, and you must pass by these empty calories to get to the healthy food.

Thin people don’t buy food from the middle, but select a bulk of their groceries from the outer edge of the store.

Follow Their Lead!

Buy dairy, fruits, vegetables and meat, and stay away from the aisles full of guilty pleasures.

Set your mind up for success, and line up your goals each week along with solutions for making them possible.

As you begin a new train of thought and follow through with realistic and actionable steps for good health, you’ll get just what you deserve.

A healthy, energetic mind and body to take you just where you need to be: Happy, motivated and focused so you can live to your highest potential!

10 Ways to Improve Your Love Life!

10 Ways to Improve Your Love Life!

Is your romantic relationship in a rut? If so, you and your partner are no doubt searching for techniques that can quickly and rekindle that spark once again.

Though it may take some time, attention and effort to accomplish this feat, it will be well worth it – as no one wants to be in a cold and passionless partnership!

So, to help speed you on the way towards restoring your romance to its first lustre, here are 10 ways to improve your love life.

#1: Try a New Activity Together

Sharing the ins and outs of daily life is a way to stay meaningfully connected with your partner, but it can cause tensions, friction and resentments to build.

What’s a good way to ease these?

If you think back to when you were dating, you likely tried some fun activities or events that you could share and enjoy.

Perhaps you went to see a favourite band, ate at a fancy restaurant, took walks on the beach or had a romantic picnic.

Over time, you may have pushed these special times out of your schedule because of the normal hustle and bustle of life.

Why not attempt to add these types of activities back into your relationship?

Go to an exotic restaurant where you can eat with your hands and share food or go out dancing if you haven’t been in a while (or always wanted to go).

Or, you could go hiking together or take in a show.

Anything to shake up your routine and help you relax and reconnect.

#2: The Little Things Matter

Boosting your love life doesn’t require a fancy night out on the town. You can show your affection by leaving a one sentence note for them to find in their briefcase or purse.

Or, you could make their favourite dessert (or buy it if you’re not good in the kitchen).

Even surprising them with a small gift out of the blue can mean a great deal.

#3: Add Spontaneity Back to Date Night

You probably know couples who’ve been going on virtually the same date night over and over for years. Maybe they eat dinner at the same restaurant and then take in a movie.

Your love life may suffer from this same monotonous trend, so shake things up!

Try to get outside of your boring and comfortable routine and be creative with date night.

Perhaps you could eat at a pop up restaurant you found on social media, rent kayaks and go paddling or even take a painting class.

#4: Start Dreaming Again

Do you remember when you used to stay up half the night talking about your plans? You may wonder where those days went and think you’ll never recapture that feeling of a shared goal ever again.

You probably work together every day paying bills, getting the kids off to school, making dinner, doing yard work, and so on.

Yet, these mundane activities don’t capture your imagination and sense of adventure.

Don’t fall prey to the trap that you and your partner have already accomplished your greatest goals.

Instead, start talking about your hopes and dreams once again.

Even go a step further and make a vision board of all the places you’d like to see, your dream home and experiences you want your family to enjoy.

You’ll amaze yourself at how this single change can powerfully infuse passion and creativity back into your relationship, almost like magic.

#5: Get Flirty!

Long-term relationships have a tendency to get, well, bland. This doesn’t have to be the case! In fact, some couples grow closer, more intimate and deeper in love with each passing year.

While mutual respect and deeply shared beliefs and goals are the bedrock of this deep-seated love, a good dose of playful flirting probably doesn’t hurt either.

Make it a point to flirt with your beau when the opportunity arises.

You could lace your language with double entendres, start sending them sexy text messages, or just make eyes at them while you prepare dinner.

#6: Talk About Your Turn-Ons

People are often embarrassed about talking with their partner openly and honestly about their turn-ons.

Keeping the playbook of what gets your motor going to yourself isn’t helping anyone - so try hard to communicate this vital information to your partner.

Your (or their) tastes may have changed and evolved, so check in regularly to make sure you’re giving them what they need for a satisfying love life.

You don’t even have to communicate this with words, which can sometimes be awkward.

Instead, reinforce what works for you with body language or even “lip language” - show your partner what you like, so they can provide it.

#7: Turn up the heat in the Bedroom

All the previous tips can help thaw any frost or break up boredom in your relationship. These can often make things in the bedroom much more enjoyable on its own.

However, you may still need to make a renewed effort in this department by bringing new ideas and experiences into your sensual time together.

How? You can use candles to heighten the mood or even incorporate sweets like strawberries and chocolate into your time in bed.

Heighten the pleasure from touch and lengthen your foreplay to increase anticipation and your enjoyment.

You can even begin by giving your partner a sensual massage or even giving role playing a try if that is appealing to you.

Focus on being a giving and generous lover to your partner – for more meaningful and satisfying sex for you both.

#8: Plan a Romantic Get-Away

From time to time, getting away from it all can make an immense difference in your love life. So, why not plan a long weekend trip to a quiet destination that’s away from it all?

There you can unwind and just enjoy each other’s company, taking long walks, talking or just staying inside for more steamy pursuits.

A bed and breakfast or nice hotel should do the trick, and be sure to unplug your iPhone, laptop and the TV. The point is to focus on your partner and slow down for 2-3 days.

#9: Add Adventurous Sex!

Another way to boost your love life is to add some adventurous sex to the mix!

You could have sex in places you’ve never tried before, like on the kitchen floor or other rooms beside just the bedroom.

If you’re a risk-taker (or your partner is), you could even go for sex outside.

Just make sure that nobody will get an eyeful, so choose a secluded spot.

Finally, if your partner has always had a sexual fantasy that you’ve been too conservative to try, consider giving it a go (as long as it’s respectful and appropriate).

#10: Surprise Them at Work

Can’t remember the last time you showed up at your partner’s workplace to surprise them? If so, then it has been too long!

You don’t have to disrupt their day or their colleagues – stopping in for 2 minutes with food from their favourite restaurant or a bouquet is more than enough.

Or, you can just pop in to kiss your partner and tell them how much they mean to you. Either way, they’ll likely be feeding off this sign of your love for days to come.

These 10 ways to improve your love life can have a tremendous impact upon your relationship, and they’re not complicated.

Cultivating passion requires effort, but even small changes can sometimes have a profound effect.

Taken as a whole, these techniques can help you and your partner to reconnect – for a satisfying love life that has plenty of passion to spare.

Coffee: The New Superfood?

Coffee: The New Superfood?
Coffee! I always knew there was something extra special about my morning cups of coffee!

Can you tell that I’m excited? Well, I am, because I’m writing this article with my steaming mug of rich, dark roast coffee beside me.
More and more evidence is coming out that coffee is not just a popular way to start the day, but it may have some significant health benefits as well!

It turns out that moderate coffee drinkers have lower risks of type 2 diabetes, arrhythmia, strokes, Parkinson’s disease, gallstones, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Type 2 Diabetes

With
diabetes, at least it turns out that decaffeinated coffee is just as protective as the caffeinated kind.

In a study of over 193,000 people, those who drank on average 6-7 cups of coffee were about 35% less likely to be diagnosed with diabetes.

Those who drank 4-6 cups a day had a 28% less risk of type 2 diabetes. Gender, age, weight - none of that mattered; the risk was still lower.

Australian researchers looked at an even larger group - almost half a million people - and found a 7% drop in risk of diabetes for every extra cup of coffee a day!

In fact, drinking decaf coffee or black tea decreased the risk by almost the same amounts.

Heart Disease and Stroke

What is the evidence that coffee can lower those risks?  Here, there do appear to be some gender differences.

In men, it lowered both the risk of a heart attack and stroke when they were coffee drinkers.

For women, it lowered only the risk of stroke. Part of the reason for this difference may be women's risk of heart attack increases after menopause when oestrogen levels drop.

Arrhythmia

In one large study, people who drank 1-3 cups of coffee every day were about one-fifth as likely to have arrhythmia, or abnormal heart rhythms, when compared to people who did not drink coffee.

In the Nurse’s Health Study, the risk of stroke for coffee drinkers was about 20% lower than non-coffee drinkers.

In this study, it didn’t matter if the women had high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol - the risk was lower in coffee drinkers!

Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Dementia

For Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s and dementia, the key protective ingredient in coffee seems to be caffeine. One study looked at almost 1500 people over a 20-year period.

For those who drank 3-5 cups of coffee a day, the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s was a whopping 65% less compared to those who did not drink coffee or had fewer than just 3 cups a day.

As a bonus, coffee seems to protect the liver against cirrhosis and liver cancer. It also appears to protect against gallstones.

It even seems to increase your ability to exercise and concentrate on various tasks.

What is it about coffee besides the caffeine that can help lower the risk of diabetes, heart disease, strokes, Parkinson’s disease, dementia and Alzheimer’s?

Well, at least a part of it is high levels of antioxidants found in coffee. Antioxidants are substances found in foods, especially superfoods, that mop up free radicals.

We produce free radicals in our cells because of everyday biochemical reactions. The problem is that these free radicals are very reactive; they bind to and damage a whole array or cell components.

The body has ways of dealing with free radicals, but they can overwhelm those.

That’s Where Coffee Comes In!

Coffee is a plant product, and plants produce some of the most potent antioxidants known to medical science.

Coffee is the #1 source of antioxidants for most people. So bring on the java!

We don’t know exactly how these antioxidants help prevent or reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, neurological diseases like Parkinson’s disease or how they help prevent Alzheimer’s or dementia.

We also don’t know exactly how these antioxidants help us minimise the signs of ageing - which they do. But we know that they do, and we know that coffee is a rich source of antioxidants.

And, most of us who drink coffee regularly also know that there is nothing quite like that first cup of coffee in the morning to make us feel ready to face the new day.

And now we also know that there are significant health benefits to drinking 3-5 cups of coffee a day! So, if you are a coffee drinker and have felt guilty about it, you don’t have to anymore.

Now you know you can comfortably say, “I’ll have another cup of java, please!”

The Power of Affirmations: How to Talk to Yourself

The Power of Affirmations: How to Talk to Yourself
Have you ever considered just how important your self-talk really is for your personal growth and self-confidence?

If not, just imagine what kind of influence your friends have on you when they talk to you ... or how much your parents had when you were growing up.

Now imagine this: You’re around yourself more often than anyone else on this planet.

That ought to give you an idea of just how important it is to use empowering words when you speak to yourself.

This takes practice, though, and if you aren’t really choosing your self-talk, you’ve probably developed some bad habits.

The following “affirmation workout” will help you undo these habits and form empowering and inspiring self-talk.

First, a Basic Rule

As you study the psychology of affirmations, monitoring your thoughts and internal dialogue can seem overwhelming.

There’s a lot to remember: keep things affirmative, avoid negative thoughts, focus on what you want instead of what you don’t want ... how in the world can you remember all those things?

Well, the good news is that you don’t have to.

All you have to do is follow the “Reverse Golden Rule,” for the way you speak to yourself, “Do unto yourself as you would have others do to you.”

As you’re listening to your self-talk, ask yourself: “Would I want to be around someone 24-7 if they talked to me this way?”

If not, “How would I prefer them to talk to me?”

These two questions will help you redirect your self-talk without having to remember a lot of details about what to say and what not to say.

Five Principles of Positive Affirmation

Now that you have a basic idea of how to monitor your self-talk, let’s look at five principles for building your daily affirmation exercises:

1. Action-based

The best affirmations are those that suggest specific actions instead of just wishes like “I want to be more confident.”

Ask yourself what you would do if you were more confident and use those verbs to build your affirmation.

For example: “I approach strangers with grace and enthusiasm.”

2. Identity-based

Focus your affirmations more on changing your identity than on achieving goals.

Yes, you want to achieve your goals, but always ask yourself what kind of person you need to become to achieve your goal and build your affirmations around that.

3. Affirmative

Instead of making your affirmations about what you want to stop doing, what you want to lose or what you don’t want, make them about what you do want.

Use words like can, will, want, gain and am instead of words like can’t, won’t, don’t, lose, stop and quit.

This will encourage you to focus on the results you want instead of those you want to avoid.

4. Specific

Your subconscious mind does not respond to vague requests and commands, so it’s important for you to be specific in your affirmations.

This is another reason that action-based affirmations are more effective.

They give you something specific to focus on, which stating wishes like “I am confident and assertive” or “I am wealthy and financially secure” does not.

TIP: Ask yourself exactly what you want to accomplish, determine what you have to do to accomplish it, and build your affirmations around those specific answers.

5. Practice

The most common reason people fail in using positive affirmations is that they don’t practice them on a consistent, daily basis.

You’ll never be in a position in your life when you can stop training your mind to think proactively and positively.

There are just too many opportunities for you to take on negative thinking habits.

Make a consistent daily practice of affirmations and always remember that personal growth and self-improvement is a lifetime commitment.

Don’t forget to check out that news that everyone is buzzing about. It might just be the secret you are looking for to change your life.

What’s the Truth about the “Self-Help” Industry?

What’s the Truth about the “Self-Help” Industry?
Are you bombarded with so many self-help techniques you don’t know where to start?

It is easy to get caught up in the excitement and drama of the self-help industry because they all promise to help you reinvent your life.

Much like email marketing, most self-help genres promise big things.

There are a lot of legitimate caring people in the self-help industry that can really help you make some amazing changes in your life.

However, there are also just as many scam artists trying to sell you a product or an idea that can change your life.

It is easy to get sucked into empty promises that end up costing you a lot of money.

People spend big money on self-help products, and the truth of the matter is that women are the target audience.

Americans spend over 11 billion dollars annually in the self-help industry, and that is a lot of money.

There is a never-ending list of people who promise to help you change your life from coaches to self-help gurus, and they all play on one thing, fear.

They talk about our shortcomings and make us feel as if we desperately need their help.

The problem is that this supposed “help” costs us a lot of money.

You could spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, on programs that may not really help you at all.

From CDs to books to videos to online classes and seminars, how can you possibly choose which amazing program is right for you? That is the million-dollar question.

Where Did It All Start?

The term “self-help” dates as far back as 1859, when a Scottish social reformer published the very first book on self-improvement called “Self-Help” of all things!

Many ancient cultures, as far back as ancient Greece and Egypt, used the idea that people could heal themselves, and we still promote that ideal even today.

The infomercial sector plays on people’s emotions, making big promises and also costing big money.

Let’s face it: We are all looking for that magic solution that can finally help us overcome our problem, once and for all.

All of this comes down to one thing: sales.

Everyone is merely trying to sell you something. They make empty promises and show you heart wrenching testimonials.

You see people who have lost hundreds of pounds, made millions of dollars and solved every problem known to man, and it only costs you $897 for a lifetime membership in this exclusive important club.

There is a coach and trainer for everything, and they aren’t inexpensive either.

Self-help scams aren’t restricted to the Internet either, because your email box is most likely full of exclusive offers.

These same snake oil salesmen are also trying to get your attention in person through cleverly designed networking events where you network with other amazing people.

The problem is that sometimes the same people who attend these events are also trying to sell you a product!

Where does it end you might ask?

How can you decide what to spend your hard-earned money on? That is a question only you can answer.

Many self-help techniques use the same treatment, merely spinning it from a new angle.

How Do You Cut Through All The Crap?

The best advice I can give you is to suggest that you do your research.

Get on the Internet and see what other people are saying about the specific product or service.

There are some legitimate wonderful methods and some great teachers in the industry that can help you literally transform your life.

Be wary of anyone trying to get you to attend an expensive seminar though because that is where a lot of these self-help gurus really make their money.

I would be wary of anyone who is trying to get you to spend thousands of dollars on anything, especially a seminar.

The fact of the matter is that sometimes we buy books based merely on a catchy title or photo.

Marketing is BIG business, and they design the artwork to suck you in. We buy self-help books for everything from relationship issues to weight loss to addictions.

People in the US buy approximately 13.5 million relationship self-help books every year alone.

Now I’m not saying that these products don’t work, but what I am saying is that they play on our weaknesses.

Ask anyone you know, and they will most likely admit that they have a fully stocked library of books that they never finished reading.

We all have good intentions, but the fact of the matter is that life often gets in the way, making us distracted before we have time to finish the book or try out the product.

Even doctors and health care professionals are in on the game because the mental health industry is also big business.

Everyone out there has a new book or a new method. People make big promises.

What Should You Do Instead?

The best advice I can give you is to start slowly and watch how much money you spend.

You might be better off taking a trip to your local library, so you can browse the self-help section spending no money at all!

There are some excellent products out there that can help you transform your life in incredible ways, and many of them work well.

The trick is to commit to them and follow through. If you don’t read the book or never get to the exercises and get busy with life, then they probably won’t work.

Stop and ask yourself what it is you are trying to fix. You could even meditate on it and ask your mind to tell you or show you if this product or service is right for you.

Your mind is an incredible, untapped wealth of knowledge, and you can ask it anything you like.

That is the real truth of the self-help industry because the fact of the matter is that you CAN help yourself, and you need not spend thousands of dollars in which to do so.

Be careful where you spend your hard-earned money. The best advice is to start slowly and commit to following through with whatever method you start.

Use your intuition to gauge if the product or service is right for you.

3 Chakra Healing Myths Busted Right Open

3 Chakra Healing Myths Busted Right Open
If you visit an upscale day spa, you might notice a “chakra balancing” treatment on the list of services.

You may not be sure what your chakras were, or if they needed balancing, but it’s definitely intriguing!

Maybe you have even had your chakras dowsed with a pendulum.

Watching a crystal spin above your heart area is interesting, and it’s not just a party trick.

I have hands-on experience. Allow me to give you a little insight before you slap down the cash for a treatment that you don’t really know if you need.

Your chakra system comprises seven main energy centres that live along the spinal column.

Although they are less dense than tissue or bone, they are one of the major ways that your body receives energy from the Universal Energy Field and assimilates it for your use.

The energy centres govern many aspects of your physiology, including organ systems and psychological tendencies, and reflect the well-being of the individual.

Each has a frequency, a colour and a sound, moving in a clockwise direction.

I know it’s weird to understand the nonphysical parts of you, so think of each chakra like a vortex or funnel, which is a few inches wide at the top, and the motion of this vortex pulls energy down the funnel and into the body.

There is a front and rear aspect for each chakra, and they extend into your energy field a few inches above the body on certain points along the spinal column.

Myth #1 - Chakras are supposed to be balanced and perfect

Many of the diagrams in books or online show the seven major chakras as they would be in an ideal world - perfect.

They are all a similar shape, size and spin effortlessly with a colourful glow specific to each chakra.

We live in the real world and hopefully understand that nothing is perfect.

The real world is messy, unpredictable and above all else, constantly changing.

This is also how your chakras behave. They are flexible and responsive, adjusting to psychological and physical factors, which affect us every day.

Your chakras have a baseline unique to you and reflects your current emotional and physical patterns, but this baseline can change over time as you grow and change.

Insisting that your chakras always be “perfect” is not productive in the real world. It’s important to honour where you are in your process and to encourage opening and stability, no matter how you measure up to a diagram or picture in a book.

You are not a picture.

When you are on a healing table and a practitioner balances your chakras, he or she is imposing a mental ideal on your very real physiology.

They may not be respecting where you are in your process and might force your chakras to be more open than they are naturally capable of in that moment.

After the treatment, your chakra system probably won’t be able to integrate and hold the work that they tried to impose on you.

Your chakras will go back to where they were before the treatment and may be a little wonky for a bit.

Myth #2 - Balancing my chakras will improve my health

It might be easy to think if my chakra system affects my organs, then I will be healthier if my chakras are perfect.

Unfortunately, it’s not that easy. The chakras are evidence of where you are physically, emotionally and psychologically, and it is only by working on those issues that your chakras will shift and change.

Believe me, if there were a magic switch that could make you perfect, I’d turn it on for you, but true healing requires a shift in consciousness.

Yeah, I said it. Be intimately involved in your own healing process to reap the rewards.

No one can do it for you. When you experience illness, it is your body calling out for you to pay attention.

Honour it. Listen to it. The answers you need for your healing will come through your consciousness, not just your chakras.

Get to know yourself, and you’ll move through your own health issues, rather than giving that job to someone else.

Myth #3 - I have no power over my chakras.

Most people think they have no real authority over their physiology. We are constantly turning to experts to tell us what is wrong with us and how to fix it.

While there is much that a healer can do to help you understand where you are and to help you along the way, it is up to you to change the beliefs that are negatively affecting you.

There are lots of simple exercises, similar to many common yoga postures, which people have used for centuries to shift the psychological or physiological health of an area governed by a chakra.

Sometimes all it takes to shift a negative or unhealthy pattern is just giving it some positive attention and a concerted effort to move toward something healthier.

For instance, if you are experiencing a sluggish second chakra and not feeling that romantic spark toward your partner, having that chakra balanced will have some effect on your love life, but not as much as if you practise something like belly dancing.

Get that part of the body moving for yourself and your chakras will respond in kind.

Another person can’t change your life for you, especially if you have invested behaviours and beliefs in a particular issue for many years.

Actively working with your issues, however, will positively reflect in your entire chakra system, and you will feel better on many levels.

So the next time you’re in a spa, get the Mani/Pedi, and skip the chakra balancing...
