Are you struggling to get ahead in life but go nowhere fast? Perhaps you need a new strategy.

Some say that the definition of insanity is when you keep doing the same thing but expect a different result. Many of us are probably insane if we believe in this theory.

To manifest change, start thinking differently. If your current solution is not working, you may need a fresh approach.

You might even need new goals and new dreams. If you are struggling to get ahead, there might be many reasons. Let’s look at 7 of these now.

Reason #1: You don’t have new goals to work toward

It is easy to get stuck in a rut, continuing to do the same thing every day. To get ahead in life, continually refresh and update your goals.

The goals you had 10 or 20 years ago are outdated; let’s face it. I’m sure if you looked at most of them, you would most likely see that you have already achieved them, so it’s probably time to create new ones.

If you don’t have higher and higher goals, you end up drifting around with no particular end in sight. When you take time to write your goals, you can clearly see what you are working toward.

To get inspired, and stay inspired, you always have to shoot for a higher star, so get out there and make some new goals and light a fresh path.

Reason #2: Your life is unbalanced

To be happy, you must have balance in all areas of your life. You can’t just work all the time and not make time for friends and family.

Your personal life is just as important as your business life in many respects. If you are struggling to get ahead, maybe you just need to take a break now and then.

Get out with your spouse or meet a friend for dinner. Plan a mini holiday or get some fresh air.

Living an unbalanced life is just unhealthy, and it can cause you to become bitter and anxious. When you attempt to balance out your life, physically, spiritually, emotionally and relationally, you will feel more inspired naturally.

Reason # 3: You are just bored

Maybe you need to take a class or go back to school. If you are struggling to get ahead, maybe you are just on the wrong path.

Maybe this is the universe’s way to kick you out of your comfort zone and nudge you in a new direction. You might need to get inspired and do something else with your life.

You don’t have to make a 180-degree turnaround overnight, but you can start doing things that are more aligned with your passions and talents.

Reason # 4: You are living with past regret

If you are continually living with past regret, you may hold yourself back in more ways than one. You can’t forge a new direction when you are constantly looking backwards.

The most important thing you can do to support your own success is to forgive yourself and attempt to move forward. Nothing holds us back more than regret.

You need to realise that the past is just that, in the past. There is not much you can do to change past events and old decisions.

Try forgiving yourself, forgive others, and move forward. Perhaps you made the best decision you knew how with the information you had.

Do yourself a favour and forgive yourself with love in your heart. Then, and only then, can you look toward the future with hope.

Reason #5: You’re unfocused

If you are struggling to get ahead, you may just need to get focused. Perhaps you have a slight case of adult ADD.

It’s nothing to be ashamed of. If you have a lack of focus, then you may just hop from one thing to another, never really finishing anything.

This is not an excellent strategy for success! Perhaps you are just trying to do too much.

It may help to refocus in on your goals, dreams and desires. Figure out what is important, and focus in on that a little every day.

It is better to be the master of one trade than to be a Jack of all trades.

Reason #6: You complain or whine too much

Let’s face it: No one wants to be around a whiner or complainer. Those who are constantly negative often find that they attract the same kind of negative energy back.

We base it on universal laws because like energy attracts like energy. If you focus too much on those things that are going wrong in your life, shifting your focus to those things you are grateful for can make a world of difference.

Reason # 7: You’re not laughing enough

Scientific studies have shown that laughter is a wonderful medicine because laughter releases your body’s feel-good chemicals called endorphins. When you take time to have fun and to laugh, you will literally feel much better.

If you take life a little too seriously, you may benefit from some laughter therapy! Laughter can increase your creativity, lower your stress levels, and even boost your immune system.

What about some other benefits to laughter? Besides laughter’s ability to lower your stress and boost your immunity, it can also improve your resilience and add much-needed joy to your life.

Laughter can also strengthen relationships and promote bonding.
